WHAT IS ONLINE RUNNING PHYSIO

Our online running physiotherapy service is accessible from anywhere in the world, making it easy and convenient for runners to get the expert and trusted guidance that The Running Room is known for. Our expert running physiotherapists use the latest technology to assess, diagnose, and treat injuries, ensuring that you get the most accurate diagnosis combined with the most effective treatment possible. The Running Room are your experts in treating runners and we have helped thousands of runners return from injury and perform at their best.

Our approach to physiotherapy is based on The Running Room's fundamental principles, which emphasise the multifactorial nature of running related injuries. We take a holistic approach and look at importance of training load, tissue capacity, biomechanics, strength and mobility, footwear, sleep, stress and other contributing factors. All of which are assessed and addressed to allow you to overcome injury and improve performance. This approach to treating injuries, addresses not just the immediate pain but also the underlying causes to prevent future injuries from occurring.

To date The Running Room’s fundamental principles and online running physiotherapy have been a huge success with online clients in the USA, Australia, India, Canada, UK, Singapore and Europe. Many of our clients have come to us seeking a second opinion to their running injuries and have returned to running pain free.

This is for any runner who is suffering from common or complex running injuries such as:

- Runners Knee (Patellofemoral pain)

- Shin splints (Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome)

- Plantar Heel pain (Plantar fasciitis)

- ITB Pain

- Achilles Tendon Pain (Achilles Tendinopathy)

What will you get with ONLINE RUNNING PHYSIO?

A 45 minute initial consultation with an expert running physiotherapist

A comprehensive assessment of your running injury, a deep dive into your training load, an in depth analysis of your running, training and past injury history, muscle strength and endurance testing, movement assessment, appropriate footwear advice and more.

This ensures that we are addressing the multifactorial nature of your running injury and ensuring that you get back to running at your best and in the shortest, safest and most sustainable way.

We will review your running training load utilising advanced technology giving us access to in depth training data based off your fitness wearable (garmin, apple).

We will deliver a comprehensive treatment plan giving you a clear diagnosis, contributing factors to your condition, as well as, how long your rehabilitation will take and most importantly what we will do together to get there.

You will get an individualised strength and capacity building program that is tailored to your injury and delivered via our app. This program will be adjusted as your injury progresses and we will ensure you are completing each exercise with optimal form and the correct load.

Depending on your injury we will provide modifications to your running training so that you get over injury and return pain free. This may be in the form of a return to run program, however, in many cases you will not need to completely stop running. Our goal is to keep you running safely with modifications rather than simply telling you to rest as this is often not the best approach.

If we believe your biomechanics are playing a role in your injury we will send you clear instructions of how and where to send your running videos so that we can analyse your running to determine areas of improvement or contributors to your injury (see video below). Or you can attend our clinics in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs or London.

All of our therapists run and all understand that we need to take an in depth look at the many factors that may be contributing to your injury. This includes ensuring that we hear your full story. This is important to ensure that we can accurately diagnose your injury, look for the contributing factors and formulate a treatment plan that is specific to your goals.

We are able to accurately assess your running injury, your strength, training load and tissue capacity, as well as your running mechanics and determine the factors that are contributing to your injury or blocks in performance. Further to this, we will provide you with an easy to follow and exact plan for your training load that we will carefully monitor and progress as you improve.

This will allows us to take you on the journey from PAIN to PERFORMANCE.

What if you are not injured?

Even better. We assess our injured and uninjured runners the same way. The difference being that in the uninjured runner we are looking for potential areas of improvement that lead to a boost in performance, an increase in running economy and ways to decrease injury risk.

We will never change a runners pattern or style completely especially if they are uninjured, however, some small changes can have a profound effect on performance.

We love treating uninjured runners as this allows us to take a preventative and performance based approach to ensure you run pain free and at your best.

How long does it take to change someones running?

In some cases changes can be made and felt immediately and implemented after your first session. Some things will take longer to integrate as we are changing a movement pattern as well as providing specific strengthening of areas that need improvement. These changes take a little longer to take effect and are implemented over a 6-12 week time frame. The good news is that our concept is all about managing the runner or athlete throughout their journey and we incorporate strength training into our sessions to ensure that you are performing our running fundamental exercises with the correct technique.
We have seen that this leads to better outcomes as this new movement pattern is being performed with our expert guidance and encouragement.

How will you know if you are improving?

Firstly, if you are injured we will reduce you pain and aim to keep you running. You will know you are improving when you feel like your injury is under control and you are on the right path to running pain free.

Often people see a clear improvement in their running times, hitting new PB’s and report a new found ease of running and reduction in pain.
