For The Sporting & Active Individual

As people with busy, active and sometimes chaotic lives we tend to push our bodies and health to limit. We often forget how important regular recovery and maintenance is to our overall well-being. At The Running Room & iMove Physio we understand this and therefore provide a complete range of massage and soft tissue treatments.

Remedial massage at The Running Room & iMove Physio
Our philosophy of remedial massage is that it should be a holistic approach and treatment. We will always assess you first to understand and find the source of your pain or discomfort. Based on the assessment we will treat you with a combination of massage techniques, stretches and muscle manipulation. Part of the treatment will also be extensive advice on managing your discomfort and providing preventative exercises.

Who is it for
Remedial massage can be for everyone. Here at The Running Room & iMove we will tailor the treatment specific to your needs. We see regular gym goers, long and short distance runners, triathletes, cross fitters, office workers, and people that just want to come in for a regular treatment.

Sports remedial massage
This is probably the treatment of choice for all the active people. When you come in for your sports remedial massage we make sure we tailor the massage to your specific sporting needs. This means we can focus on lower limb, the shoulders or assess a specific area that is causing pain or discomfort. In a sports remedial massage we tend to use firmer pressure and utilise specific stretching techniques. We want to make sure you can perform at your best and recover quick. In any case we will make sure we’ll do what’s right for you.

Relaxation
One of the great benefits of massage is that it can really help you to relax. Life tends to get pretty busy and stressful from time to time and this can cause tightness and discomfort. A relaxation massage can help with those tense muscles in the shoulders and relieve overall tension in the body.

Recovery
A recovery massage can be a great addition to a recovery or de-load week. If you’ve had a big training block and your body is feeling pretty sore and heavy then a recovery massage can help you get that spring back in your step. Regardless of the sport you play, looking after yourself is of uttermost importance. A regular recovery massage may help improve your performance, reduce soreness and aid recovery. Dry Needling
Dry needling is a treatment technique whereby a sterile, single-use, fine needle (acupuncture needle) is inserted into the muscle to assist with decreasing pain and improving function through the restoration of a muscle’s natural ability to lengthen and shorten by releasing trigger points.
When the delicate needle inserts into the centre of a trigger point, blood pools around the needle triggering the contracted muscle fibres to relax. It also helps to provide those fibres with fresh oxygen and nutrients. This reaction, in turn, leads to the decompression of the local blood and nerve supply.
