The Running Room’s Innovative Approach to Orthotics
The Running Room is not your typical physiotherapy clinic. We're pioneers in implementing advanced technology to aid your journey back to peak performance after experiencing injury.
Part of our unique offering and innovative technology stems from our sister company, The Running Room Technologies. This forward-thinking arm of our business portfolio is consistently at the cutting-edge of adopting and integrating state-of-the-art tech into clinical practices. Our focus is on enhancing not only the treatment experience at The Running Room in Australia and the UK, but also improving clinical outcomes at other allied health businesses, universities, and research facilities. We are the proud distributors of the products that we believe in and use on a daily basis within the clinics.
Introducing Pedcad: 3D Printed Orthotics
One such innovative approach involves our partnership with Pedcad, a German leader in custom orthotics. After a relentless search for the best 3D printing solution, we traveled to Germany in 2022, where we discovered the remarkable work of Pedcad.
Pedcad has been a distinguished name in European orthotics for years, consistently improving patient outcomes with their clinical work combined with their orthotic manufacturing to allow for ongoing development, testing, and refinement of their products. Their commitment to innovation aligns seamlessly with our ethos at The Running Room.
Pedcad's 3D printed orthotics are an absolute game-changer, providing our active clientele with a new level of care to speed up recovery and get them back doing what they love by combining a custom made 3D orthotic with our comprehensive approach to rehabilitation.
Who may benefit from a Pedcad 3D printed orthotic?
Our Running Room 3D printed orthotics could be beneficial for a wide range of individuals, particularly those who lead active lifestyles and are experiencing lower limb discomfort or injury.
1. Runners and Active Individuals: Those who engage in regular running or other high-impact sports who are struggling with issues like heel pain, plantar fasciitis, shin splints and knee pain.
2. Individuals with Chronic Pain Conditions: People dealing with persistent issues such as chronic heel pain, plantar fasciitis, or knee pain
3. People Recovering from Injuries: For those returning from a bone stress injury or recovering from foot, ankle, or lower limb injuries.
4. Individuals with Jobs that Require Extended Standing or Walking whilst injured: People who spend long hours on their feet, such as retail workers, nurses, or construction workers, could benefit from the additional support and comfort of a 3D printed orthotic to reduce symptoms.
5. Those in Need of a Holistic Rehabilitation Approach: If you are someone undergoing a comprehensive rehabilitation program that includes load management, strength, and conditioning exercises, a Pedcad 3D printed orthotic can be an integral part of your plan. It's often a temporary solution to manage symptoms and improve function while working towards long-term recovery goals.
Holistic Care: Beyond Just Orthotics
Our treatment strategy at The Running Room goes beyond the simple provision of orthotics. We believe in a comprehensive approach to rehabilitation, which includes patient education, well-structured load management, strength and rehabilitation programs, and hands-on treatments.
While orthotics can provide relief of symptoms by shifting load and supporting the foot, they're not always a long-term solution. Our goal is to use orthotic devices as a temporary aid while we work on increasing your tissue capacity, strength, and mobility, with the ultimate aim of phasing out the orthotic device where appropriate.
Comfortable, Light, Flexible: The Running Room Technologies Orthotics
Our orthotics are unlike many other traditional devices, which at times may compromise comfort and flexibility. Made possible through our partnership with Pedcad, our 3D printed orthotics are crafted from a unique Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU). This material strikes the perfect balance between flexibility and support, offering comfort and pain relief in an ultra-lightweight package.
We believe that orthotics for active individuals should be light, flexible, and comfortable while providing the necessary support to alleviate symptoms and facilitate recovery.
