Our online physiotherapy approach is grounded in The Running Room's core principles, which recognise the multifactorial causes of running injuries. We take a holistic, runner-specific approach – examining training load, tissue capacity, biomechanics, strength, mobility, footwear, sleep, and stress – to ensure comprehensive online injury rehab. All of which are assessed and addressed to allow you to overcome injury and improve performance. This approach to treating injuries, addresses not just the immediate pain but also the underlying causes to prevent future injuries from occurring.

What’s Included in Your Online Running Physiotherapy Sessions
You’ll begin with a 45-minute virtual consultation with an expert running physiotherapist. This session includes a detailed injury history, movement screen, running analysis (where appropriate), and strength & mobility testing.
Individualised Assessment & Diagnosis
Your physiotherapist will assess your injury using the same clinical reasoning principles we apply in person. You’ll receive a clear diagnosis, a breakdown of contributing factors, and a projected rehab timeline.
We take a comprehensive assessment of your running injury, a deep dive into your training load, an in depth analysis of your running, training and past injury history, muscle strength and endurance testing, movement assessment, appropriate footwear advice and more.
This ensures that we are addressing the multifactorial nature of your running injury and ensuring that you get back to running at your best and in the shortest, safest and most sustainable way.
Training Load & Data Review
We analyse your running training load using wearables like Garmin or Apple Watch. Understanding how your load contributes to injury helps us build a safe and sustainable return to running program.
Individualised Treatment plan targeted to your running injury
We will deliver a comprehensive treatment plan giving you a clear diagnosis, contributing factors to your condition, as well as, how long your rehabilitation will take and most importantly what we will do together to get there. We will take you on a journey from Pain to Performance and will ensure we get you back running pain free.
Strength & Conditioning Delivered Remotely
You’ll receive a personalised strength and conditioning plan for runners, delivered via our training app. Your plan adapts as you recover, and ensures you’re rebuilding tissue capacity and running strength.
Running Modifications – Without Full Rest
In most cases, you won’t need to fully stop running. We’ll modify your sessions to keep you moving safely while managing pain – because rest isn’t always the answer. This includes specific modifications to your running sessions, walk/run progressions or cross-training strategies
Gait & Biomechanics Review
If your running form is contributing to your injury, we’ll review your gait through running video footage. You’ll get clear, actionable advice on technique improvements to reduce load and optimise your form.
